Eversource Aerial Inspections in December

A helicopter over Weston later this month will be a unit deployed by Eversource to have a look at electricity transmission lines.

Between December 14 and 23, the company will conduct aerial inspections of high-voltage electrical equipment in rights of way throughout the state.

You may see (and hear) a blue and yellow helicopter in town between those dates — tail number N803JB — operating anywhere from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The helicopter is equipped with LiDAR (light detection and ranging) laser technology, which Eversource says is used to perform a high-tech survey of the transmission system, providing up-to-date electronic data for analysis by the company’s engineers.
