PBA Toy Drive Features “Stuff a Police Humvee”

The annual toy drive by the Weston Police Benevolent Association is running now, with a fun event coming soon.

On Saturday, December 11 at Weston Shopping Center, families can drop off donations and kids can enjoy hot chocolate and “Stuff a Police Humvee” from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The object is to help Weston officers fill police vehicles with new unwrapped toys and gifts to benefit children in town and also at the Early Childhood Center of the Danbury Public School System.

Gifts can also be dropped off anytime between now and December 17 at the Weston Police Department lobby, opposite the Weston Library.

The PBA also has a special request.

The Early Childhood Center is a new preschool designed and built to educate children with special needs. Many of the children are of the minority population. Over 80 percent of them receive free or reduced-price meals. Their families have limited means to buy gifts and essentials for their children.

The school staff asks that donations be “cause and effect” items made for preschool age children, toys that are interactive and stimulate thought and motor skills. The school also needs toys, balls, and “Little Tikes” type plastic playground equipment. New or lightly-used items are fine; right now the playground has only a few pieces. New or lightly-used children’s winter coats and clothing are also being collected.
