Vincelli on Storm Preparedness, April 17

On Saturday morning, April 17, Michael Vincelli of the Westport Weston Health District will discuss how to prepare for what is increasingly the inevitable — powerful storms that fell trees, block roads, and knock out power.

Mr. Vincelli is the District’s director of Emergency Preparedness/Response. Join the discussion in a Zoom program sponsored by Weston Kiwanis.

The Kiwanis meeting starts at 9:30 on Saturday morning. The speaker typically comes on shortly after opening business.

Unfond memories

It may seem like long ago, but it has only been a few short months since Tropical Storm Isaias hit Connecticut, striking a quick and devastating blow to Weston. Almost every road was blocked for days. Almost every home lost power, many for a full week.

Hurricane season is approaching.

Mr. Vincelli is particularly suited for advising you on preparing for violent weather and how to reach local emergency management during a crisis.

Honored in 2018 by the Board of Police Commissioners as Weston’s Citizen of the Year for his contributions to public safety, Mr. Vincelli served 17 years as a Red Cross Operations Section Chief in Disaster Response and is a Director of the Westport Weston Wilton Medical Reserve Corps (MRC).
