Lamont in Self-Quarantine

Governor Ned Lamont went into self-quarantine today after a member of his staff tested positive for Covid-19.

Several senior members of the governor’s staff will also quarantine, including Chief of Staff Paul Mounds and Chief Operating Officer Josh Geballe.

This is the first known case of coronavirus among the governor’s staff. The individual known to be a confirmed case is said to be asymptomatic.

According to a statement released by Mr. Mounds, Governor Lamont and his senior staff are tested twice a week.

Mr. Mounds said contact tracing is underway, with all members of the administration who have been in close contact with the positive staff member self-quarantining for 14 days.

CDC guidelines define close contact as being within six feet of a known case for 15 minutes or more over the course of a day.
