Open Q&A: Representative Anne Hughes

State Representative Anne Hughes returned for a follow-up to our September interview, this time in a live Zoom with questions sent in by the public.

In the 47-minute video (above), Rep. Hughes first answered a question about legislation to regulate pesticides. Her response gave insight about how special interests and delaying tactics kill action in the General Assembly. Nothing gets done, she said, without a groundswell of public support.

Ms. Hughes then answered questions about renewable energy, Eversource, transgender rights, and infrastructure improvements to Connecticut’s highways, bridges, and railways.

Rep. Hughes repeated her opposition to regionalization of schools, discussed steps needed to make healthcare more affordable, explained how the new Paid Family Medical Leave Act works, why it is important, and shared her thoughts about revitalizing Connecticut’s economy.

Weston Today thanks the readers who sent in the interesting questions discussed.
