Hundreds Attend Black Lives Matter Gathering

As many as 400 people gathered on the lawn at Town Hall on Sunday for a Black Lives Matter event organized by Weston students Jordan Blunschi and Jasper Richardson.

Featured speakers included First Selectman Chris Spaulding, State Senator Will Haskell, Josiah Lindsay of the 100 Black Men organization, and Pamela Lewis, founder of Connect-Us. Many in the audience, including students, spoke during an open-mic portion.

Weston Police Captain Matt Brodacki, who serves as Interim Chief while Police Chief Ed Henion continues to recover from coronavirus, received a warm welcome, as did several Weston officers. Captain Brodacki told the crowd, "we stand with you."

Everyone knelt for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. In silence.
