Entries Open for DeFACEment Art

Norwalk's Maritime Garage Gallery invites artists age 18 and up to submit work in almost any medium for an exhibit titled “DeFACEment: Through Artistic Eyes.” The entry deadline is April 2.

"Clever uses of medium, with the exception of pedestal sculpture," are encouraged. According to an announcement, the exhibit "will feature expressive personality and portraiture art that depicts unique perspectives through the artists’ eyes."

"Artists are asked to search beyond the ordinary to develop compelling visuals, including both animate and inanimate forms that evoke thought, passion, as well as hardship, conflict, and spiritual freedom."

The exhibit will be curated by Norwalk artist Robert Abriola. A jury will decide the Best in Show award and first and second runners-up. An opening reception takes place on April 30. The show runs through July 10.

The Maritime Garage Gallery is at 11 North Water Street in the SoNo district of Norwalk. Admission is free and open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
