Police Chief Edwin Henion, Officer Mark Berretta, Captain Matthew Brodacki

Weston’s newest police officer, Mark Berretta, was sworn in at a Town Hall ceremony on November 30. Officer Berretta joins Weston from the West Haven police department.

Friday's ceremony was officiated by Police Commission chairman William Brady and attended by several commission members, officers of the Weston Police, and a number of Town officials.

A benediction was offered by police chaplain Rev. Dr. Bernard Wilson and pastor Thomas Burke, both of Norfield Congregational Church.

Chief Ed Henion said Mr. Berretta was the “standout” candidate after an extensive search and lengthy interview process.

Officer Berretta was sworn in by First Selectman Chris Spaulding, who praised Weston's police force as "the finest in the state, and possibly the country."

Officer Berretta's badge was pinned by his mother.
