We are all feeling the impact of COVID-19 in the communities where we live and work with disruptions to school, work, daily life and travel. While the restrictions increase, they are necessary to stop the spread of the virus. In this current environment, health is on everybody’s mind. We are washing our hands constantly, practicing social distancing, and self-isolating.
During this challenging time, the team at AFC Urgent Care Norwalk is even more focused on how to provide our patients with affordable, high-quality care in a safe environment. We have taken extra precautions to keep our patients and healthcare providers safe, like extra professional cleaning services, room wipe downs after every patient, PPE for our medical staff, and hand sanitizer before registration.
We also realize that some patients may be uncomfortable or unable to leave their homes during this time due to compromised immune systems or underlying health issues. Other patients may have been exposed to or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. For patient and staff safety, and peace of mind, AFC is now accepting patients for Telemedicine services. Telemedicine allows patients to consult with a physician about a number of medical issues via video call from the comfort of your own home.
While we are all quarantined in our homes, it is especially important that we find ways to keep our bodies healthy. Filling your plate with these foods can help decrease inflammation and improve airway function in the lungs:
Processed ingredients, trans fats and fried foods are bad for lungs as they can promote inflammation and increase the formation of harmful free radicals. Other foods like processed meats, sugar-sweetened beverages, refined vegetable oils and added sugars should also be limited as a party of a healthy, well-rounded diet. Also keep in mind that diet is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to lung health. Exercising, not smoking and avoiding indoor and outdoor pollution are other important strategies that can help keep your lungs healthy and strong.
