Train Service to Reduce, 5 Weekends

Expect reduced service and crowded trains on the Metro North New Haven line on five weekends from September 12 to November 1.

The heaviest impact will be on the weekends of September 12-13 and September 19-20 as crews remove utility towers and overhead wire systems on the WALK Bridge in Norwalk, a major step in replacement of the 130-year-old bridge.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation advises passengers to expect about 55 percent fewer seats on those weekends, to check schedules, and to allow extra time.

Service between Grand Central and Stamford will not be affected, except for an adjustment to one Saturday morning train.

On the weekends of October 10-11 and October 17-18, DOT foresees about 30 percent fewer seats than typical for a weekend schedule.

The department notes that the construction schedule is subject to change.
