Weston Police are particularly alert and extra visible during school bus operating hours following a suspicious incident involving a child.
An active investigation is underway, and parents are asked to remind children about safety precautions when getting off a school bus.
On late afternoon Wednesday, a father at a Weston Woods Way residence reported that when his daughter got off a school bus at about 3:45 and checked the mailbox, a black SUV stopped and an unknown male tried to engage the girl in conversation.
The father said the man asked the child if she wanted money and told her to get into the back seat of the SUV. She ran toward the house, and the man yelled for her to come back.
The police say the vehicle was described as a black, older model Nissan Pathfinder with out-of-state license plates, possibly New York or New Jersey. It had an orange sticker near the right rear taillight.
The unknown male was described as tall, white or Hispanic, with dirty blonde hair. He wore a black beanie, a gray sweater with rips, black sunglasses, and a silver watch on his right wrist.
Police officers canvassed the area but could not locate the vehicle. The photo at the top of the page, captured by a neighborhood security camera, is described by the police as “a potential match” of the suspect vehicle.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Joe Mogollon at (203) 222-2639 or by email to jmogollon@westonpolice.com.
